Bielle’s shop is finally open. The design had to be monochromatic so it did not clash with the colour of Bielle’s designs. It had to be feminine and related somehow to the Korean background of its owners, Jeane and Hyunhee. Glossy and lacquered furniture were chosen-an antique Chinese bureau and Thonet bentwood chairs complemented by a stool by Donna Wilson as an occasional table. An American white oak partition wall/screen, which provides a kind of “orientalism” to the shop, was designed and built by Miguel to separate the shop floor from the office area. Miguel also designed and made the silk-fringed lampshades and customised the glossy black mirrors. Custom made art work by Miguel finalise the design.
